In support of their global efforts to provide free cardiac pacemakers to needy patients, HEARTBEAT INTERNATIONAL held a fabulous fund raiser, Nov. 6, 2008, at the Renaissance Vinoy in St. Petersburg. Some wonderful and unique items were auctioned off, including a bass signed by Paul McCartney, a guitar signed by the Rolling Stones, a signed robe and glove from Mohammed Ali, and some great trips and jewelry. The event showcased DANCING WITH THE STARS - Tampa Bay style, with 8 local celebrities competing for bragging rights as Best Dancer, while helping a very worthy cause. Participating in the dance competition were: DR. WILLIAM LaTORRE, GAYLE GUYARDO, J. PAUL PEPIN, JAYNE CARUSSO, NANCY ALEXANDER, JULIE WEINTRAUB, KATHRYN GARCIA, LAURA KLOSTERMAN, and IAN BECKLES, dancing with professionals from the FRED ASTAIRE STUDIOS OF TAMPA BAY.
