One of Georgia’s most popular state parks, Amicalola Falls State Park houses the tallest cascading waterfall east of the Mississippi River at 729 feet. An 8.5 mile approach trail leads from the park to Springer Mountain, the southern end of the 2,135-mile Appalachian Trail. The Amicalola Riverside Nature Trail has recently become ADA compliant. The beautiful Amicalola Falls State Park Lodge sits at the top of the mountain and is popular with guests who prefer hotel-type comforts. A 5-mile hike leads to more remote accommodations at the eco-friendly Len Foote Hike Inn. The visitor center has nature displays, live exhibits and a gift shop. Visit
